Happy New Year!! + 2024 recap/thoughts

Happy 2025! I decided to write a reflection about some major things and some updates I enjoyed from this year, so I can look back later and remember!

BEWARE: These highlights and updates I'm talking about are NOT in order. Lol

10K STAR COIN SHOPPING SPREE
----------------------------------------------
A few days after Christmas, I realized there was a special double star coin deal! And so I decided to give myself a late Christmas present, and buy 5k, which was doubled to 10k! So I did, and I bought 5 new horses. I bought Juniper: a gen 3 Lipizzaner, Strawberry: a gen 3 Dartmoor Pony, Robin: a gen 3 Mustang, Ghost: a gen 3 Fjord horse, and Coffee: a gen 3 Dutch Warmblood. I had also bought back Frostkiss, my gen 2 Lipizzaner, and Ashwings, my gen 2 Mustang a few days prior. So now I have quite a few horses to train! and I left myself 5k star coins so I can buy the horses coming in 2025. I predict that I will buy a Criollo, Hanoverian, Mule, and Andalusian. I'm not sure about the Black Forrest horse and Rocky Mountain horse yet because of their coat colors, but we'll see. (going off of pictures of the breeds I found on google)

SILVERGLADE MANOR UPDATE
---------------------------------------------
The Silverglade Manor got updated! At first I wasn't sure about it, mainly because I was sad to see the old one leave since it's been around since I was 10 years old. And that nostalgic factor was leaving forever. But looking past that fact, I think it's beautiful, and I love all the new paddocks! Roleplayers love it. The things I'll miss most are: The overlook paddock, the old rose garden, the big pipe in the old rose garden (weird I know), my favorite old graphics spot, the big hill leading down to the riding arena, and the horse shop. And the things I like the most in the updated manor are: All the paddocks, the new stable (so bougee), the fountain in front, how bright it looks, and the new trees.

HORSE BREEDS FROM 2024
--------------------------------------
So I will go over every horse breed that came out this year, my likes/dislikes from each breed, if I did/didn't buy one, and my overall rating.
1.) Ardennes
LOVE LOVE LOVE this breed. I'm a big fan of chunky horses, specifically THIS chunky horse! The gaits were cute, I love the mane/tail options, my only con is that I'm not a huge fan of all the coat colors. I only liked a few, but yes I did buy one! I bought the red roan, and named her Butterfly. My overall rating for this breed is a 9/10!
2.) Pheobe and Tynan
Okay so the unicorns. They did not stick out to me, because I did not buy one. In my personal opinion, the foresty unicorn looks weird in both its magic/non magic coat. The black one is nice, but not to the point where I wanted it badly. I forgot these horses even exist tbh. Overall rating is 3/10
3.) Selle Francais
Now, a lot of people will disagree with me here, I know this is a hot take. But I do not like them very much. I LOVED the Belgian Warmbloods, and the Dutch Warmbloods (after they grew on me), so I was expecting to love the Selle Francais since it's another warmblood. But when they came out, I was unimpressed. I didn't like most the coats, some of the gaits looked stiff and weird to me, and I didn't like the neck. So even though I had enough star coins, I did not buy one. And I haven't felt the want to buy one since. They aren't terrible though, if I had extra star coins I would maybe buy one in the future. My overall rating is 6/10
4.) American Saddlebred
This is a weird one. When they came out, I wasn't loving them, thought they looked kinda weird. But I had a lot of star coins and just wanted to buy the exciting new horse, so I did. I bought the black one, and named her Dreamcatcher. But I kinda regretted it ngl. I still think the neck is weird since it's so skinny at the top, and I don't like how some of the gaits look, namely the gallop/fast gallop. I don't like how the legs extend past the head. Looks unnatural. Just my personal opinion. But I'm not going to sell her, she'll probably just sit in my pasture for years until I decide to ride her again one day. My overall rating of this breed is a 6/10
5.) Serenus and Bronte
These were the rainbow festival horses. I'm not a fan of magic horses, but these ones were AMAZING imo. I thought the magic coats were so creative, and I loved the details! The non magic coats were pretty nice as well. I don't like a lot of magic horses, but these ones I actually did! I would've bought one if I had enough star coins. These two get an 8/10
6.) Gen 3.5 Friesians
I LOVE this breed! I was hoping sso would redeem themselves after the major fail of the Jorvik Friesian. And they sure did! I love the gaits, I love the coats, I love the hair, I love everything about them. I bought the liver chestnut, and named him Hawk. I give this breed a 10/10. No complaints.
7.) Bolt and Calliope
These two were the Halloween horses. I thought they were cool, but I wasn't blown away. I didn't love the non magic coats, which in order for me to buy a magic horse, I have to love the non magic coat. Since I never ride my magic horses in their magical form. So I didn't buy either. They weren't bad though, I thought they were creative, and I could tell a lot of work went into them. I give these two a 6.5/10
8.) Noriker
I was SO excited for this breed when the spoilers came out. And I thought I would want one immediately when they got released, but when they did, I was less than excited. I do NOT like the jump on these horses. They tip forward so far, they look like they're about to biff it every time they land. That's my main complaint, but I also don't like how it looks from the back when they run. Because of those factors, I did not buy one. But I did love the flaxen chestnut coat color! This breed gets an overall rating of 7/10
9.) Hjortensia and Earik
The Christmas magic horses! Now I will be honest here, I thought Hjortensia was ugly. I am not a fan of the bright white mane on the dark horse, and the long tail, and the fact that it's an American Saddlebred. Honestly the magic deer form looks better, but I still don't like it. Moving past that onto Earik, I had quite the opposite reaction. I LOVE the non magic coat. The gray is amazing, and the messy braids are so cute! I also just love the Ardennes so that's also a big factor. I seriously considered buying this horse, but decided against it since the magic coat wasn't my absolute favorite, and I had other horses I wanted more. I HAVE to give 2 separate ratings for these ones since they're polar opposites. Hjortensia gets a 2/10, and Earik gets an 8.5/10
10.) Extras
In the winter village at the very end of this year, randomly several new coat colors of horse breeds just got released. There were a few Friesian Sport horses, and a few Norikers. I thought both Noriker coat colors were very nice, and both the Friesian Sport coats were nice. But didn't love any of them enough to buy. Maybe I'll buy one in the future. The extra coat colors that came out get a solid 8/10.

MEDIEVAL AREA
------------------------
I don't know if this is just me, but I was expecting this area to be way more impactful. I went there like once or twice to joust, and I haven't really returned LOL. The dragons were fun, but this place didn't really change a whole lot in my eyes. I forget it exists a lot of the time. Idk, it's pretty cool and looks nice, and if you're into roleplaying then it's good for that too. But it wasn't super monumental to me.

STABLE CUSTOMIZATION
------------------------------------
About time this update happened. I think it's a wonderful idea, and it's so cool that you can make your stable unique and suited to how you like it! My only complaint is that it's FRIKKIN EXPENSIVE. You can only buy a few options with shillings, and most customization options cost over 100 star coins. So you have to be rich, or it'll take forever to fully customize it to your wants. But since I bought 10k, I finally customized my stable to perfection (in my eyes) as well as fully upgraded it. I'm glad this update happened, just wish it were cheaper and more accessible. Especially to the non star riders.

DISCO UPDATE
---------------------
This is another update that I just forget happened. The new disco is cool I guess, but the old one brings back so many memories... dancing with my clubs, dancing with my friends, doing the old glitch where you run into it for like a few minutes then turn and FLY away, good times. I wasn't ready for it to leave I'll be honest. And it looks out of place in my opinion. But I am glad they added more dances. Especially so our new characters aren't stuck doing old glitchy animations.

I had a lot of fun on sso this year! Mostly on my own, since my friends don't play much anymore, and my sister left on a mission. But it's been fun anyways. I completed both trailblazer tracks, got a lot of the druid paths done, worked on reputation, and finally finished some quests that have been sitting waiting for years because of reputation blockers. (Namely the quests at Goldspur, and Sunfield farm) I also leveled up to 25! Anyway, I can't wait for this new year. If I remember, I will post a recap like this one again!
